A firm favourite of racing car drivers for decades (not to mention legendary actor Paul Newman) the Daytona Cosmograph is a near-mythical timepiece which was created in 1963 and named after the Daytona International Speedway in Florida where the Rolex 24-hr race takes place. A tachymeter adorns the bezel whilst the face has three sub-dials (a minutes-elapsed chronograph, an hours-elapsed chronograph and a third displays seconds).
'Cosmograph' is Greek for a visual representation of the harmonious ordering of parts into a whole. One look at the Daytona's balanced, efficient design is all that's needed to see why this applies.
